Sarina is the Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center, where she provides crisis intervention, end-of-life and treatment decision-making, and grief counseling to clients of the Small and Large Animal Hospitals as well as to members of the community. She has had an interest in grief and bereavement support for many years. As a Veterinary Social Worker her main focus is on grief and bereavement support for individuals and families who have experienced the death of their companion animal. Sarina is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist® and offers the Grief Recovery Outreach program to the community several times throughout the year. Sarina also teaches the grief and bereavement content for the Veterinary Social Work Certificate program through the College of Social Work.
Her other interests as a Veterinary Social Worker include compassion fatigue support and communication skills for animal related professionals. Sarina leads the communication skills training and provides support for stress management and self-care to the veterinary students at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine.
