Research Interests:

Dr. Sullivan's broad research focus encompasses many aspects of poverty, and more specifically interventions tailored for at-risk youth and adolescents. Dr. Sullivan has recently authored two articles dealing with effects of environment on self-competency in middle school minority adolescents, and he has fifteen journal articles now in print, in addition to two edited books.

Research Projects, Funded Research, Grants and Awards:

Sullivan, Michael. This grant titled Interventions for At-risk Student's enrolled in Alternative Middle-school Settings (IASAMS) is a R-21 federal funding mechanism submitted to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. It is designed to develop and test an early intervention program to assist and return at-risk minority youth attending an alternative school back to their community school with skills necessary to maintain their continued attendance. The requested funds are for $275,000.00 over 2 years. Submission date: 2/2006.
