Spotlight on Lisa Primm and the Grand Challenges for Social Work

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the UT College of Social Work, we are honoring 75 social workers -- alumuni, faculty, staff, and others -- whose work and lives exemplify the 12 Grand Challenges that have been identified by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare.

Lisa PrimmLisa Primm is the Executive Director of Disability Rights Tennessee and has been chosen as Challenger #35 for her commitment to the goals of Grand Challenge #5: Eradicating Social Isolation, and #12: Achieving Equal Opportunity and Justice.

When asked to explain her passion for social work, Lisa stated, "I am an enthusiastic practitioner of macro level social work and a passionate advocate for the profession. Macro level social work is the only career path solely dedicated to ending oppression. In my current role I have the opportunity to advance the movement of equality, inclusion, and justice for people with disabilities. It is an honor and a privilege to do this work."
