Current Opening - Assistant Professor - Nashville Campus


The University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The position will be located at the College of Social Work Nashville Campus. Located in the capital of the state, the Nashville location lends itself to a variety of interdisciplinary research opportunities with multiple organizations e.g., community, universities/colleges (Vanderbilt University, and HBCUs - Meharry Medical School, Fisk University, Tennessee State University) as well as research opportunities with a wide network of state and local health and behavioral health organizations.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in community engagement and community based research.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Evidence of ability to engage in externally funded research.
  • MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program and a Doctorate in Social Work or a related field (ABD will be considered).?
  • 2 years post MSW macro practice experience.
  • Commitment to building on the successes of the college and contributing to its strong base of improving lives and systems.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Macro and research experience related to poverty and inequality, racial justice, diverse populations, and the ability to teach macro oriented courses.
