The University of Tennessee College of Social Work offers a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in Clinical Practice and Leadership that prepares graduates for advanced clinical practice and leadership. Geared toward working professionals, the DSW is an intensive accelerated program that enables students to satisfy all degree requirements in three years, without career disruption.
Real-time or synchronous courses will make extensive use of interactive video and instructional media. Asynchronous features of the course will facilitate the use of online learning resources to enable information sharing outside predetermined time constraints. Students will spend one week each summer on the UT Knoxville campus engaged in intensive knowledge and skills development.
The innovative online Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is one of the nation's top accredited online programs when it comes to value and affordability. Though it is possible to complete the MSSW degree at our college in a completely online environment, the strength of the program is that we offer online students the same curriculum and same faculty that serve on-campus students.
The Post MSSW VSW Certificate is designed as continuing education for social workers who have graduated from accredited schools or colleges of social work. Participants can earn NASW contact hours for completion of content.
The VSW Certificate program can be completed in part or in its entirety. It is not a graduate school certificate, so graduate school admission fees and completion of GRE test scores are not required.
It is designed for the social worker who wants to expand her/his practice by integrating animals in a systematic and evidence based way. Education in veterinary social work sets you up to create a cutting edge practice.
The online Postgraduate Trauma Certificate, PGTC, provides a critical overview of trauma, as participants are immersed in cutting edge knowledge about treating trauma, trauma theory, and the neurophysiology. Participants learn to critically assess conceptualizations of trauma and traumatic impact, and apply current principles of intervention and program planning, while considering the larger social, cultural forces at work that shape both exposure to and recovery from traumatic experiences. The PGTC, is for anyone with a master’s degree or higher in fields of human service or allied health and an interest in increasing their knowledge about trauma.
The PGTC is an online certificate program that consists of 3 modules. Each module is comprised of 15 Contact Hours, is NASW approved and is pending approval from the ANCC. Modules may be taken a la carte or in conjunction with one another, to earn the PGTC. Once the PGTC is started, each participant will have 1 year to complete the entirety of the Certificate. The cost for each module is $350 and is payable online at the time of registration.
The PGTC is comprised of 3 modules; Neurophysiology, Trauma Theory, and Treatment of Trauma. Each module is available online, includes user-friendly and self-paced and consists of videos, voice-over power points, downloadable articles, handouts, and quizzes.
The PGTC, is for anyone with a master’s degree or higher in fields of human service or allied health and an interest in increasing their knowledge about trauma and trauma treatment.
