B.S.S.W. Program General Degree Requirements

  1. The College of Social Work follows the University general education requirements. These requirements are identified in The University of Tennessee Undergraduate Catalog, available from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  2. A minimum of 120 semester hours.
  3. At least 42 semester hours at the 300 level or above.
  4. At least 45 semester hours in Social Work courses.

The following are general education courses, major concentration courses, and electives for the B.S.S.W. program:

  English Composition     6 hrs.
  History     6 hrs.
  Mathematics     6 hrs.
  Humanities     6 hrs.
  Foreign Language (intermediate level)     6 hrs.
  Communication Studies     3 hrs.
  Social Science   19 hrs.
  Social Work   45 hrs.
  Natural Science     8 hrs.
  Electives   15 hrs.
       
 
Total:
   120 hrs.
