Admission to Gerontology Certificate Program
In order to enroll in the Certificate Program, students must first be admitted to the Graduate School as either a prospective candidate for a graduate degree in an academic department or in a non-degree seeking status with Gerontology as the major. The Gerontology Coordinator will provide advice to interested students on the necessary steps to secure admission to the Graduate School.
A. Applying to the Graduate School:
1. If you are not a student at the University of Tennessee but wish to be pursue the Gerontology Certificate program at UT, you must be admitted to the Graduate School before you can be admitted to the Gerontology Certificate program. Submit your application materials to the Graduate School at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to the beginning of the semester for which you would like to enroll. On your application, indicate that you wish to be a non-degree seeking student with Gerontology as your major. The items listed below must be sent to:

- Complete a Graduate School Application for Admission either online or download the application, complete it and mail it in.
A $35.00 non-refundable application fee. - An official transcript from each university you have attended (both graduate and undergraduate).
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores.
- TOEFL Scores (if applicable).
2. After you have been admitted to the Graduate School, you must then apply for admission to the Gerontology Certificate program. See directions for doing so below.

B. Applying to the Gerontology Certificate Program
If you are already a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, you must complete an application form to be admitted to the Graduate Gerontology Certificate Program.
