What Is
Social Work?
Social workers are catalysts for change, tackling societal issues such as poverty, inequality, and discrimination. They provide support, advocacy, and resources to individuals and families facing challenges, while also addressing systemic barriers that perpetuate social problems. Social work encompasses a wide range of settings, from schools and hospitals to corporate HR, advocacy, and even professional sports teams.
Our Programs
Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW)
The Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree (BSSW) is crafted to educate students for generalist social work practice, emphasizing the interplay between individuals and their environments. BSSW graduates secure diverse roles, including case management and community organizing, and engage with various populations such as young children, families, adolescents, and the elderly. As part of the program, students gain hands-on experience in the field to enhance their education.
Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW)
The MSSW program, available in Knoxville, Nashville, and online, is designed to prepare students for culturally relevant and ethical social work practice on a global scale. Emphasizing sensitivity to the needs of vulnerable populations, the program prioritizes client empowerment, advocacy for social and economic justice, and challenging oppression. Additionally, students gain valuable hands-on field experience as an integral part of their major. The MSSW program also provides various specialized degree certificates to advance your education and enhance your professional profile for future career opportunities after graduation. No GRE is required for our MSSW program!
