UTCSW Alumni are involved in enhancing the well-being of individuals in every sector of society. Our alumni work in hospitals and schools, lead non-profit organizations, run therapeutic practices, and advocate as community organizers. The Alumni Council at UTCSW was formed in the summer of 2021 in an effort to engage UTCSW alumni across the country. The council has been instrumental in supporting continuing education efforts of the CSW as well as engaging alumni in events across the state of Tennessee. We welcome any alumni to lend their voices and their social work expertise to help support the council’s efforts.

Outstanding Alumnus 2023
Jennifer Trail, MSSW, LAPSW
Class of 2014
Jen currently serves as the Assistant Director in the Office of Strategic Initiatives for the Tennessee Department of Health. She is a member of the Tennessee Public Health Association and a graduate of the Department of Health Commissioner’s Leadership Academy.
Jen has inspired at least one student to start her career with the public health department by reminding her how valuable and rare the social work skill set is in systems work. Jen’s career is an outstanding example of the power of social work values and ethics at work. She works statewide to empower communities to use their voice to improve health outcomes at the systems level.
