Course Description

After 25 years of advanced leadership, Lisa has seen it all (or a LOT) in the way of challenges.  She applies a unique style to her work that she attributes to being a macro-practice social worker. Over the course of the presentation, you’ll hear stories, laugh and learn in a way that will leave you feeling like you have new tools in your leadership tool belt, and better able to take on what’s in front of you.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define learning curve thinking;
  2. Increase awareness of how social work skills can be applied in leadership roles;
  3. Identify leadership tools that help facilitate success;
  4. Develop an understanding of how to utilize story telling as a technique for self-review; and
  5. Gain insight into their role as a change agent.

CEUs

Participants are eligible to earn 1 continuing education unit.

About the Presenter

As the Beck Institute’s executive director, Lisa Muchnick Coriano, MSW, manages internal operations and oversees the creation of new programs. She also manages the expansion of existing programs to increase access to CBT training and resources for health and mental health professionals worldwide. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee with a focus in management and community practice.

Prior to working at the Beck Institute, Coriano was a senior vice president for Seedco, a national workforce and community development nonprofit. She provided oversight for the Memphis office, where she led the staff, managed multi-million dollar workforce contracts, designed and implemented the ACA Navigator statewide initiative, executed asset-building programs, and was responsible for quality assurance.

Prior to joining Seedco, Coriano served as the vice president of Nashville’s Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM). She assisted in the daily operation of the organization and the consulting bench, matching nonprofits and consultants. She also provided consulting services to CNM-member nonprofit and government agency clients, with a focus on strategic planning, board development, performance planning and the development of strategic alliances.

Coriano has served on numerous workforce, social service, and education boards. She was president of the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus and Hands On Nashville, chairwoman of the Middle Tennessee Workforce Investment Board Youth Council, and board member of the YWCA in Nashville.
