The College of Social Work (through the Social Justice Innovation Initiative), the UTK Vice Chancellor’s Office for Diversity and Engagement, and WATE 6 Knoxville have the pleasure of hosting several special events on November 6-7, 2019 with public policy expert Heather McGhee.
Heather McGhee, an advocate for economic and political equality, is a Senior Fellow at Demos Thinktank and diversity training collaborator for Starbucks’ 175,000 employees.
Several events are planned over the two days:
- Ms. McGhee will present Bridging the Racial Divide: Lessons from the Most Unlikely Friendship on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Family & Children’s Service‘s Honey Alexander Center, located at 2400 Clifton Ave., Nashville, TN (see Google Map). - Ms. McGhee will participate in an informal discussion with University of Tennessee, Knoxville faculty, staff, and students on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 3:30-5:00pm. This event will be held in the Student Union, room 270.
- Ms. McGhee will present Bridging the Racial Divide: Lessons from the Most Unlikely Friendship at a second event on November 7, 2019 that is open to the public. This event will be held in the Student Union Auditorium from 6:00pm-7:00pm. View a printable flyer for the event here (PDF).
