Martina Ward joined the College of Social Work in 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Practice and Coordinator of MSSW Field for Knoxville. Prior to entering this role, Martina was involved in field education as a Field Instructor to multiple MSSW and BSSW students, and she served on the Knoxville Campus Field Advisory Committee. As the Coordinator of MSSW Field Services, Martina will prepare MSSW students to enter field through a seminar and facilitate their field practicum placements in the community. She will foster and develop relationships with agencies to promote learning opportunities for students. She will provide support and guidance for MSSW students, Field Instructors, and Field Liaisons.
Martina’s experience includes working for seven years as the Program Development Coordinator for Telamon Tennessee, a multi-state, non-profit organization that is a provider of Migrant and Seasonal Head Start and Early Head Start services in rural counties. At Telamon Tennessee, she worked in grant writing, program assessment, community assessment, and advocacy. Martina developed and implemented educational workshops for Telamon Tennessee’s youth initiative for children of migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
