Nashville

On Friday, April 20, Nashville-area Field Instructors gathered for a breakfast thanking them for their service to the College and its students throughout the past year.

Kim Mallory, Coordinator of Field Education, Nashville MSSW Program and Assistant Professor of Practice greeted our guests, saying, “Our Field Instructors, are the heart of our program, and we just wanted to set aside some time to sincerely thank you all for your service to UT. Having a student can be one of the most rewarding things you can do, but it can also be one of the most challenging and we are so grateful for you commitment to the next generation of social workers. You all train our students to become professional social workers. You inspire them, you model ethics and commitment to the dignity and worth of all people and walk them through the growth of boundaries and the development and redevelopment (and re-development) of self-care plans. We appreciate your extraordinary dedication to our students and all of the time and effort you give. We absolutely could not do this without your partnership and commitment.”

In addition to giving us the opportunity to honor excellence in field supervision, the event also offered training to our field instructors. Knoxville faculty member Dr. Freida Herron, DSW, presented training entitled: Passing the Torch – Shaping the Next Generation of Social Workers.
