Marie Williams ’93 Receives Alumni Professional Achievement Award

Congratulations to Tennessee Commissioner of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Marie Williams, 1993 UTCSW alum, member of the UTCSW Board of Visitors, and Tennessee Commissioner of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, on receiving the Alumni Professional Achievement Award at the recent Alumni Awards Gala.  

Commissioner Williams has spent decades bettering the lives of Tennesseans. Five years after graduating with her MS in social work from UT, Williams was named a Fellow in the Housing and Urban Development community building program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. 

The UT graduates honored demonstrate the Volunteer spirit with their leadership, courage, and commitment to strengthening their communities. They have made their mark in diverse fields including health care, business, environmental conservation, entertainment, higher education, journalism, and the military. They were all selected for their achievements as strong leaders and for stepping forward to serve their alma mater and pave the way for future Vols.
