PhD Student Melody Huslage Selected for SEC Emerging Scholars Program

Melody Huslage

PhD Student Melody Huslage was selected as an SEC Emerging Scholar for the 2022-23 academic year. This highly competitive program will support three PhD students who are in the final year of their doctoral work. This program will provide financial support, professional development, networking and mentoring.

The SEC (Southeastern Conference) Emerging Scholars Program is an opportunity for historically underrepresented minority doctoral students who have an expressed interest in securing faculty appointments in higher education. The year-long program will include a workshop meant to encourage top scholars, particularly those from historically underrepresented groups, to seek out employment and mentorship within the SEC member universities. This program will involve several components including on-campus professional development and networking, attendance at a two-day online workshop hosted by the SEC member schools, and networking opportunities across the SEC member schools.
