Social Work Month 2020

Announcing Social Work Month Celebration: March 30, 2020

Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the College are invited to help the College celebrate Social Work Month with a day-long conference on Monday, March 30, 2020. (CEU’s available for those who attend ethics training.) This is a free event!

Highlights:

  • Connect with alumni, faculty, staff, field instructors, field liaisons, and current students
  • Ethics training with three (3) free Ethics CEUs “You can’t pour from an empty cup: Strengthening ethical social work practice through self-care”
  • Keynote address Mildred “Mit” C. Joyner, MSW, LCSW – President Elect for the NASW Board of Directors
  • Breakout sessions on opioids, veterinary social work, immigration, etc. (4 additional CEUs available)
  • Open Q&A session with College of Social Work Dean, Lori Messinger
  • Lunch and snacks provided

8:00am-8:30am – Registration and breakfast in the Flying J Ballroom (room 272 A &B) of the UT Student Union

8:30am – Welcome from UT Chancellor Plowman

8:30am-11:30am – Ethics Training “You can’t pour from an empty cup: Strengthening ethical social work practice through self care,” presented by Adriene Matherne and Brad Palmertree (3 Ethics CEUs included)

11:30am-1:00pm – Lunch with Keynote Speaker Mit Joyner, LCSW, President-Elect NASW, Presentation of the Senator Douglas Henry Award to Pam Wolf, Harmony Family Center Founder

1:15pm-2:45pm – Four break-out sessions to choose from: Immigration, Voting IS Social Work, Listening Session with the Dean, Poster Sessions / Tabling / Job Fair (4 additional CEUs available)

3:00pm-4:30pm – Four break-out sessions to choose from: Substance Use/Abuse, Veterinary Social Work / AlignCare, Social Justice Innovation Initiative Grantee Report-out sessions, Poster Sessions / Tabling / Job Fair
