Student Profile- Katherine Crye, BSSW

Katherine Crye is a senior in the BSSW program, and is planning to get her Masters at UT as well. After she graduates, she definitely wants to work with kids. She is thinking of working in a school setting, or possibly opening her own family therapy practice.

Crye started her college career as a Psychology major, and then changed to an Education major before finding her way to social work. She loves how many different careers you can pursue with a Social Work degree.

She is currently doing her field placement with the Compassion Coalition in Knoxville. The Compassion Coalition is a member-based organization that helps the almost 700 churches in Knoxville respond to the needs that often go unmet in the city. They help by informing churches of the needs in Knoxville, equipping them with training, and connecting them to areas and individuals in need. Crye loves being part of the Compassion Coalition. “My field placement has been amazing,” she said. “It has been a wonderful experience so far. I could not have asked for a better team to work with at my field placement, and I consider myself blessed to be able to be a small part of the Compassion Coalition.”
