UT College of Social Work Social Justice Podcast

Dr. Andrea Joseph and a group of students have recently initiated podcast as part of the College’s Social Justice Innovation Initiative. The series: Addressing School Pushout of Black Girls will include four sessions and will be hosted by Andrea Joseph, PhD, Kelsey Cardin, Sarah Link, and Teralyn Hobbs, LCSW.

Episode 1: School-to-Confinement Pathways will be an interview with Ms. Cyntoia Brown-Long on March 23, 5pm CST, live on the College of Social Work’s Facebook page. This interview will discuss the school-to-prison pipeline.

Topics for remaining sessions include:

Episode 2: Trauma-informed and anti-racist policies and practices for school push-out Care in schools to prevent /reduce school push-out (Release date TBA)

Episode 3: How school social workers can disrupt pushout (Release date TBA)

What is the Social Justice Podcast? The UTCSW Social Justice Podcast is an opportunity for College of Social Work faculty & students to discuss current social justice issues with tips and insights on how social workers can respond. Students and faculty are invited to submit their podcast series ideas to Dr. Andrea Joseph at ajoseph7@utk.edu. For a limited time, funding will be available to edit your series through the Social Justice Innovation Initiative grant.
